Siófok is more than a lakeside beach: the old town, the Sió Canal and the surrounding villages all offer plenty for a long weekend or a full week's holiday. Below are our favourites — most within walking distance or a short drive from Hullám Rooms, just 100 m from Plázs beach.

Plázs beach, just 100 m from us, is great for a quick swim. If you're after a larger, livelier beach, we recommend Nagystrand and Aranypart, where you'll find SUP, sailing and catamaran rental, plus pedal boats. Families with small children will find the shallower, grassy shorelines most comfortable.

Plázs isn't just lovely by day: at sunset, the decks and terraces along the beach make one of the best spots for a relaxed evening with a cold drink. Since it's a short walk from us, it's worth strolling over after dinner.
Sió Canal and marina, Siófok

The mouth of the Sió Canal and the marina beside it form one of Siófok's most scenic walking routes — especially lovely at sunset. Several fish restaurants and bistros line the waterfront, a great place to try local specialities like fogas or carp.

Sightseeing boats departing from Siófok's harbour make for a great afternoon or sunset outing — just a short walk from the mouth of the Sió Canal. Motorboats and sailboats can also be rented if you'd rather explore the lake independently.
Rózsakert park, Siófok old town
Rózsakert (Rose Garden)
Right next to the promenade, Rózsakert is one of Siófok's prettiest green spaces — flower beds, benches and shaded rows of trees await those looking to relax. A perfect addition to a calm morning or a slow walk alongside your beach day.

The town's landmark offers panoramic views over Lake Balaton and the old town — there's a café at the top, so you can enjoy the view with a cold drink. Best around sunset.

The lakeside cycle path connects almost the whole town and runs for kilometres in both directions on flat, safe terrain towards Zamárdi and Balatonszárszó. Bike rental is available at several points nearby.
Day trip to the Balaton Uplands, Tihany

If you have half a day to explore the region, Tihany, Balatonfüred and the Badacsony wine region are all within an hour's drive of Siófok. Tihany is known for its abbey and lavender fields, Badacsony for its wine tours.

A great option for a rainy or windy day: Veszprém Zoo (Kittenberger Kálmán Zoo and Botanical Garden) is about a 45-minute drive from Siófok and is home to more than 700 animals — kids especially love the dinosaur park section.
Richter Flórián Circus, Zamárdi

In neighbouring Zamárdi, the Richter Flórián Circus performs almost every summer evening (July–August) — spectacular acrobatics, a horse show and the famous motorcycle "globe of death" act are all part of the programme. Just a 10-minute drive from Siófok.

High ropes courses and ziplines strung between the trees offer challenges for every age, from young children to adults — a great activity for a more active afternoon, also in Zamárdi, a short drive away.
Bella Animal Park, Siófok
Bella Animal Park
Located in Siófok's Bella-puszta area, this animal park with a petting zoo, playground and lots of farm animals is ideal for a relaxed outing with small children, even as a half-day trip.

- Most sights and beaches are within walking distance or a 5–10 minute drive from Hullám Rooms.
- In summer, renting a bicycle is worthwhile — the lakeside cycle path connects almost the whole town.
- Old town restaurants and canal-side fish restaurants fill up early on summer evenings — booking a table is recommended.
- The Water Tower and the marina are also lovely at sunset, great for photos.
- Veszprém Zoo is a full-day trip — it's best to set off in the morning.
